The weather looked bad, it was cloudy and slightly chilly but the YPRC volunteers showed up; THANK YOU TO ALL WHO VOLUNTEERED. and then the folks came.
Great shakedown with about 15 people on the water. Thank You again to all the YPRC volunteers Phil FROM TIM GAMBLE:
Hey There Yonkeroids. I wanted to extend an invitation and challenge to all of you to join us on the Gowanus Canal this Saturday for our annual fundraising race and party. This is NOT a serious race. Its a real goof and only a few people are really trying to go fast, don't miss out just because you "aren't a racer". Just surviving the paddle is victory enough. Details are here: http://www.gowanuscanal.org/race/index.html If you want to race yourself and have a canoe or kayak, just show-up. There is NO MINIMUM pledge amount if you bring your own boat, so even if you can't make a donation, please stop by. If you can't be bothered to bring your boat, we would still love to have you come and join us for the party. If you want to use one of the Dredger Canoes please let me know and I can set it up for you if you can make a small pledge amount. Costumes, the more bizarre the better, are encouraged, but not mandatory. When was the last time you were able to drink beer and have tasty food on the banks of the lovely Gowanus Canal, the coolest super fund site in the USA, and the Venice of Brooklyn. Come on down and check it out before the condos go up and they wont let us block off the street for a party. Bonnie took some great pictures last year, check them out here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/105942635735197164645/albums/5889807526490573649?cfem=1&sort=1 |
