Membership includes … ACCESS TO BEAUTIFUL WATERWAYS YPRC offers members access to a historic boat house in downtown Yonkers where kayaks and gear are available for guided trips on the Hudson. Additional boats are located at JFK Marina in Yonkers. Members can store their boats at either location for an additional fee. The club also hosts training sessions and get-togethers at Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park. PADDLING SUPPORT FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED YPRC teaches members paddling and safety skills. Paddlers of all levels help each other—from beginners to accomplished kayakers and stand-up-paddleboarders. Our legacy club, Yonkers Canoe Club, won 14 national championships and competed in six Olympic games, winning gold and silver. YPRC keeps the racing tradition alive by hosting the annual Yonkers Mayor’s Cup. DOING GOOD YPRC is a non-profit organization; our purpose is not only to give the best experiences to our members, but to provide community access to the Hudson River. YPRC’s free public paddling program, Hudson River Riders, puts approximately 1,000 people on the river each year. Youth empowerment is built in through employing Yonkers teens and training them in kayaking, outdoor skills and leadership. The club also collaborates with the neighboring Beczak Environmental Education Center and Sarah Lawrence College’s Center for the Urban River at Beczak in supporting ecological initiatives on the Hudson River estuary. HAVING FUN There are weekly group trips, training sessions and a popular club paddle and potluck BBQ. Other activities include sunset and moonlight paddles, day-long skill sessions, a teen paddling program, a boat building workshop and our annual, award-winning circumnavigation of Manhattan.
