Hello Fellow Paddlers: We here at the Gerry Blackstone Manhattan Kayak Circumnavigation have missed our friends these last two years. We hope that you and your families are well and safe in these uncertain times.
GOOD NEWS!!
WE PLAN TO HAVE a 2021 GERRY BLACKSTONE MANHATTAN KAYAK CIRCUMNAVIGATION.
The dates for the 2021 event will be Saturday August 14, 2021 with a rain date of Sunday August 15, 2021. We have begun planning the event but are still waiting on commitments from some of our partner organizations.
We wanted to get some preliminary information out to you as soon as possible.
1) All paddlers will leave from Tubby Hook in Manhattan.
2) June 25, 2021: Application will open first to those who were approved for the 2019 and/or 2020 Circumnavigation.
3) July 9, 2021: Application will open to the general public.
4) We will do our utmost to create a COVID-19 safe event.:

- All participants, volunteers and staff regardless of vaccination status must wear face masks at all times during on-shore activities (including but not limited to loading and unloading, registration, launching and landing).
- Social distancing is required at all times on and off the water regardless of vaccination status.
- Participants who travel outside NY, CT, VT, MA, NJ and PA within 14 days of the event must complete the New York State Department of Health Traveler Health Form.
- Applicants/participants should be prepared for changes in COVID-19 related regulations from New York City, New York State or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at any time.
SAD NEWS
As many of you may be aware one of the original founders of the Circ Steve Blumling and his 6-year old son Shaw died earlier this year in a tragic house fire. Steve’s wife and their second 6-year old son survived. This year’s Circumnavigation will be dedicated to Steve and we hope that those of you who knew Steve will make a donation to his surviving family.
